“Ars Amiri,” a cultural and artistic activist, was arrested when leaving Iran after traveling there in Esfand 1396 (December 2017) to visit his great-grandmother. He was held in Evin prison alongside environmental activists who were arrested in Bahman 1396 (January 2018), including “Sepideh Kashani,” who was detained again yesterday, and he clearly remembers Sepideh’s account of what they went through during their detention and interrogations. Ars Amiri says the renewed arrest of “Homan Joukār,” his wife Sepideh Kashani, and “Sima,” Sepideh’s sister, took place while Sepideh’s father is in a critical physical condition lying in a hospital bed, and after they returned from the hospital they were detained. Ars says this detention is like sprinkling salt on wounds after people’s hardships during wartime.
