🔶 Yemen’s government targeted Houthi missile and drone positions
The Yemeni government’s air force carried out attacks on Saturday against Houthi missile- and drone-launch sites and ammunition storage facilities in the provinces of Marib and al-Jawf. Two Yemeni military officials said the attacks were carried out along contact lines with Houthi forces aligned with Iran.
According to the Yemeni military officials, the airstrikes targeted positions used for launching missiles and drones and for storing weapons.
The provinces of Marib and al-Jawf have been among the key areas of fighting between the forces of the Yemeni government and the Houthis in recent years.
The officials said the attacks on Saturday, July 25 (3 Mordad), are the first offensive operations by the Yemeni government against the Houthis in the current round of violence.
The operation followed the collapse of a four-year ceasefire between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia; a ceasefire that for a time reduced the intensity of fighting in Yemen’s war that has lasted for more than a decade.
