Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said on Thursday, 19 Shahrivar that the government of Donald Trump will sanction a major bank next Monday in continuation of the economic pressure campaign on the Islamic Republic.
In an interview with “Real America’s Voice,” Bessent did not name the bank or the country where it operates. He said the measure was initially scheduled for Friday, but was postponed to Monday due to the holding of ceremonies for the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
The U.S. Treasury secretary, referring to Washington’s goal of cutting economic ties with the Islamic Republic, said: “We will continue this process until they stop every transaction with this regime.”
He warned about the consequences of continuing economic cooperation with the Islamic Republic and said Washington will make it so harmful that companies and individuals who continue it will endanger the existence of their companies or their personal assets. Bessent added: “We are coming for you.”
