The U.S. State Department, stating that there is a possibility of an “unexpected escalation” in conditions, issued a travel advisory for its citizens worldwide, urging caution.
In the statement issued on Wednesday evening, 31 Tir, it said that due to increased tensions in the Middle East, the security situation remains complex and there is a possibility of an unexpected escalation in conditions.
The U.S. State Department recommended that its citizens who are currently in the Middle East exercise greater caution and vigilance, and be prepared for canceled flights, periodic closures of airspace boundaries, and possible travel disruptions.
The ministry also told American citizens outside the Middle East that they should reconsider traveling to the region and transiting through routes leading to it.
Citing attacks on U.S. diplomatic facilities, including centers outside the Middle East, the U.S. State Department said the Islamic Republic of Iran and the groups that support it may target other U.S. interests abroad or locations linked to the United States and American citizens around the world, including American companies and other institutions.
