🔺U.S. Energy Secretary: 17 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday
◾The U.S. energy minister said that 17 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday and called it the highest level since the reduction in flows due to the Iran war.
◾Chris Wright, speaking to reporters during a trip to Venezuela, said: «Right now, I can announce that yesterday, more than 17 million barrels of oil flowed through the Strait of Hormuz; a record from before the fighting.» Wright added that all 17 million barrels passed by sea.
◾Based on estimates by the U.S. Department of Energy, when accounting for pipeline capacity for transporting oil away from the strait, which is four to five million barrels, the total oil removed from the Persian Gulf region was higher than the pre-war level.
