U.S. Central Command, CENTCOM, announced on Saturday, 14 Shahrivar that U.S. forces targeted three oil tankers carrying crude oil linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC); an action, CENTCOM said, was carried out after IRGC ballistic missiles were fired at two U.S. Navy warships.
CENTCOM said that an American aircraft carrier and a missile destroyer remained unharmed after being hit by several missiles launched by the Islamic Republic, and no U.S. personnel were injured.
According to the statement, the tankers “Dauin” near Khark Island and “Stark 1” near Jask were disabled, and the oil tanker without its cargo, “Kailo,” also known as “Noxen,” was completely destroyed in the Sea of Oman after orders were given to the crew to abandon the ship.
Admiral Brad Cooper, the commander of CENTCOM, said the United States would not hesitate to defend its forces and, if necessary, would target the Islamic Republic’s oil tanker fleet, which he described as “limited and exposed to damage.”
