🔶 Trump: Iran has released an American citizen
As tensions between Iran and the United States continue to escalate, Iran allowed Dena Karari, an Iranian-American dual citizen, to leave Iran after more than a year and a half of detention.
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, said the American citizen, who was unjustly and unfairly imprisoned “during the sleepy period of the Biden administration,” is now outside Iran and in complete health, and he thanked Tehran for this move as a “sign of goodwill.”
Jared Genser, Dena Karari’s attorney, said his client had been detained since December 2024 on charges of “collaboration with a hostile state” and “espionage,” allegations his lawyer described as baseless.
Genser added that freeing his client would not have been possible without Donald Trump’s ongoing and exceptional efforts, and that Dena is now in full security and is on the way back to the United States.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is still holding several other Western citizens in order to use them as leverage in negotiations with the United States and Western countries.
