🔸The New York Times, citing several Iranian and Iraqi officials, reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran has rejected a ceasefire proposal by Donald Trump, the U.S. president.
🔸According to the report, the proposal was presented to Iranian officials during the visit of Ali al-Zaydi, the Iraqi prime minister, to Tehran.
🔸During his trip to Iran, Mr. al-Zaydi met, among others, with Masoud Pezeshkian, the president of Iran, and Mohammad-Bagher Qalibaf, the speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly.
🔸Details of the ceasefire proposal are not clear, but Iranian officials told The New York Times that it is the only proposal on the table and that they have no interest in a temporary agreement that leaves the issue of control of the Strait of Hormuz unresolved.
