🔻 Reuters: Yemen is on the verge of renewed widespread fighting under the shadow of Iran’s war

Reuters, citing Yemeni officials, Western diplomats, and analysts, has reported that Yemen is moving toward the resumption of a war that lasted more than a decade and had effectively stalled since 2022. In recent days, Houthi forces and the forces of the Yemeni government have gathered along the front line from the coast of the Red Sea to the border with Saudi Arabia.

According to sources for this news agency, the Houthi attack on a Saudi airport and its announcement of a naval blockade of the country, along with attacks on two Saudi oil tankers, may have changed Riyadh’s calculations. Since the 2022 ceasefire, Saudi Arabia has been trying to prevent a return to war.

UN mediation and Oman, with Pakistan’s fresh participation, continue; however, a Western diplomat said that skepticism about the possibility of reaching a solution through negotiations is increasing.
