Pause with Majgan Eilânlu; a story of change, prison and the struggle of Iranian women
🔸The program “Darang” revisits experiences that have changed people’s life paths; moments when previous beliefs collapsed, a new choice took shape, and the cost of that choice has left its mark on life and even on a person’s body. This program is not only seeking to recount what has happened to its guests; it also tries to understand what those experiences did to them and how they shaped today’s person from yesterday’s.
🔸The first guest of “Darang” is Majgan Eilânlu, a documentarian, writer, and one of the figures who have protested against compulsory hijab, who traveled to Manchester for a short visit.
🔸The book “Second Breath,” her account of detention and prison during the protests of “Woman, Life, Freedom,” is not merely the personal memories of a political prisoner; it is a document of women’s struggle in the Islamic Republic and an effort to record the experiences of women who have lived a part of contemporary Iranian history—not from the outside, but through their own lives, bodies, and freedom.
