Nazli Sediqi, a lawyer, referring to the transfer of Alireza Sepahi to solitary confinement and the possibility of his death sentence being carried out, said that there are serious legal objections in this case; including that it appears Sepahi was not present at the scene during the clash, and that footage from closed-circuit cameras also indicates this, but the court has not taken it into account.
She also pointed to confessions made under torture and the fact that the lawyer was not given access to all the contents of the case, and said that after the Supreme Court ordered a retrial, the corresponding chamber likely issued a decision rejecting the retrial without holding a hearing and without the presence of the lawyer and the defendant. According to Sediqi, since no new verdict has been issued, it may be possible to file for a new petition of appeal.
