Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, said in an interview with India Today that his country is not at war with Saudi Arabia and that, in his view, the countries of the region also have “an incorrect understanding” of Iran’s attacks on U.S. military bases in the region.

In the interview, recorded during Mr. Pezeshkian’s visit to India to take part in the BRICS summit, Mr. Pezeshkian says: “We are not at war with Saudi Arabia, and the Houthis also have their own issues. All the countries in the region must sit down and create peace and security in the region. There is no logic or reason for us to be at war and in conflict with each other.”

The Iranian president emphasized that: “The problem is that America has set up bases on the soil of Arab countries. From there, it attacks us. You cannot have it attack us from that same place every day. We did not attack them. We targeted the starting point of the aggression against our country. Naturally, this has caused some irritation among the countries in the region.”

This comes as the meeting between Iran and the regional countries, which was scheduled to be held in Oman on Monday, was postponed at the request of Saudi Arabia.
