🔶 Macron: We are working to reduce dependence on the Strait of Hormuz

Emmanuel Macron, President of France, on Wednesday, September 16 (25 Shahrivar), by posting a message on the X network (formerly Twitter), emphasized the need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and, at the same time, stated that Paris is working to reduce its dependence on the transfer of energy through this vital waterway.

He pointed to his consultations with the Iraqi prime minister, the Saudi crown prince, and the Emir of Qatar, saying that the priority of these consultations is to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, protect the energy infrastructure of the countries in the region, and ensure the security of oil production.

Macron added that developments in the Middle East directly affect oil prices and, ultimately, the cost of fuel for French citizens.

The President of France stated that Paris cooperates with its partners in the coalition for freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and, at the same time, seeks to expand alternative routes for oil transfer in order to reduce dependence on this strategic waterway.

He wrote: “More routes for oil mean less dependence; less dependence means more security; more security means less pressure on prices.”
