🔶 Katz: Israel’s army will remain in Syria, Lebanon and Gaza
Israel Katz, Israel’s defense minister, in a conversation with Pete Hegseth, the (war) defense minister of the United States, emphasized that Israeli forces will remain in the “buffer security zones” established in Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip.
According to Katz, the presence of Israeli forces in these areas is necessary to protect Israel’s borders and border settlements from threats posed by “jihadist” groups. He also said that Israel has never asked the United States to provide security for its borders instead of Israel.
These remarks come as, according to the news portal “Axios,” U.S. President Donald Trump has asked Benjamin Netanyahu to withdraw Israeli forces from Syria and Lebanon. Based on this report, Trump said that Israel’s military presence fuels tensions in Syria.
