JD Vance, U.S. Vice President, told the New York Post that America’s confrontation with Iran

JD Vance, the U.S. vice president, told the New York Post that the confrontation between the United States and the Islamic Republic “will enter a completely different phase within the next one or two months,” and that he agrees with Donald Trump, the U.S. president, that the war will end after the midterm elections in November.

Vance said the Islamic Republic will lose more control over the Strait of Hormuz until the elections, and that ship traffic in this waterway has now returned to more than 50% of normal levels.

He added that the United States is not currently engaged in “offensive operations,” and that Islamic Republic forces sometimes fire on commercial vessels which, according to him, usually do not succeed.

Vance said the “first phase” of the confrontation, which included the destruction of the nuclear program, conventional military forces, and the Islamic Republic’s ability to exert power, has ended.

He described the “second phase” as preventing the restoration of the Islamic Republic’s capabilities and maintaining global stability as much as possible, and said Trump, as commander in chief, determines the start and end dates of the confrontations.
