〰 The federal operation by the FBI to go after the “most important fraudsters” has expanded worldwide.
Indian authorities arrested Manjeet Singh Bedi, who is accused of stealing at least $600,000 from American taxpayers through a SNAP benefits scheme at a grocery store in Tacoma and then fleeing the United States.
Kash Patel, the FBI director, celebrated the arrest on social media and wrote: “The days of abusing American taxpayers without consequences are over.”
Bedi’s arrest is the fifth arrest since the FBI launched this list three months ago. Patel says the five suspects are accused of more than $2 billion in fraud and collectively evaded for nearly 4,000 days until they were arrested.
