🔶 Fourth anniversary of Mahsa Amini’s death; shopkeepers’ and bazaar workers’ strike in Kurdish cities of Iran

On the same day as the fourth anniversary of the death of Zhina Mahsa Amini in the custody of the Tehran police of the so-called morality police and the beginning of the nationwide uprising of “Woman, Life, Freedom,” shopkeepers and bazaar workers in several Kurdish cities of Iran went on strike on Wednesday, 25 Shahrivar.

Images and reports published show that large sections of the bazaars have been closed, and security forces have a prominent presence across these cities.

According to videos released on social media and information from human rights organizations, shops and bazaars in cities such as Sanandaj, Saqqez, Oshnavieh, Paveh, Divandarreh, Kermanshah, Mahabad, Bukan, Marivan, Baneh, Javanroud, and several other cities have remained shut.

The measure was carried out in response to a call by a coalition of political forces in Iranian Kurdistan, which had previously asked citizens to refrain from going to their workplaces in protest against the security and economic situation and the continued arrests.
