After a deadly attack on the sidelines of the Berlin Pride Parade—or “Christopher Street Day”—the annual LGBTQ+ celebration against discrimination, Berlin police have identified “Abdel B.” as a suspect in the incident.

A police spokesperson said: “This man is known to police and is attributed to Islamist circles in Berlin.” Security officials are investigating “on suspicion of an attack.”

Police described the suspected attacker, 21-year-old Abdel B., as a man with a slim build, about 1.90 meters tall, black hair, a black hooded sweatshirt, and white pants.

Police have strongly warned against approaching this man, who is believed to be armed. People have been asked to avoid any direct contact with him and instead call police at 110. Information about Abdel B. can be obtained via an online system and through the announced telephone number, or by contacting any other police station.
