Axios, citing two European diplomats and two people familiar with the matter, reported that the United States and Britain are planning to hold a high-level meeting in London next week, focused on forming a possible international coalition to protect shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the report, the timing and precise agenda of the meeting are still under review and have not been finalized. European diplomats said the meeting will likely bring together defense ministers and senior military commanders from Western countries and regional countries.

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and General Dan Kin, the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Army, may attend the meeting.

Axios wrote that the White House and the Pentagon did not respond to a request for comment. The British Embassy in Washington also declined to comment.
