🔶 Attack on Sanaa airport to prevent the landing of an Islamic Republic aircraft
A government supported by the international community in Yemen announced that on Monday, July 13, it targeted the Sanaa airport. The attack was carried out after a dispute arose over an Iranian aircraft that was transporting a Houthi delegation.
In a statement, Yemen’s Defense Ministry said: “The terrorist militias of the Houthis, supported by the Iranian regime, prevented national Yemeni aircraft from landing at the capital’s airport, Sanaa, while insisting that an Iranian aircraft be allowed to enter the country by violating Yemeni airspace. As a result, the airport’s runway for landing and takeoff was targeted.”
This, while the political office of Ansarallah Yemen—affiliated with the Houthis—denied any connection between these attacks and the government established in southern Yemen, and directly blamed Saudi Arabia. In a statement, the office wrote that “Saudi Arabia carried out an dangerous and tension-escalating air strike on the Sanaa airport to prevent the return of our delegation [from Iran], but it failed in that effort.”
