An Israeli official, in an interview with Israel’s Channel 12, announced that the possible consequences of the Houthi takeover supported by the Islamic Republic of Iran over the Bab al-Mandab Strait could be dire, saying that the strait lies at its narrowest point and “its situation could become even worse than the Strait of Hormuz.”
He warned that if the Houthis control Bab al-Mandab, they could directly target passing ships.
The Israeli official also said: “They will be able to fire, with anti-tank missiles, at whatever they want; they will see the ships with the naked eye.”
He added: “The Houthis, unlike their supporters in Iran, will not need to use radars and advanced systems.”
