🔻A Yemeni government military official told AFP that all areas on the west coast of the Red Sea that they had held are now lost to them and have come under the control of the Iranian-allied Houthis.

The Houthis have also seized the port of Zubab, the strategic island of Mayun, and the islands of Hanish, both large and small, in the Bab al-Mandab strait.

Yemeni government forces, supported by Saudi Arabia, have retreated from these areas.

Yesterday, the Houthis also captured the strategic port of Mokha and now control the entire Bab al-Mandab strait.

Today, after seizing Zubab and Mayun (Barem), they said in a statement that the Bab al-Mandab is open to all ships except those associated with Saudi Arabia.

To break the Saudi blockade, the Houthis have announced a reciprocal blockade. 📷EPA
