SpaceX launched a Falcon 9 rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California on Saturday, sending 23 Starlink satellites into orbit. The mission marked the first of two planned SpaceX launches for the day, according to Reuters.
The flight added to SpaceX’s expanding satellite internet network, which has become a central part of the company’s commercial launch business. Vandenberg has also remained one of the key West Coast sites used for polar-orbit missions and repeated Starlink deployments.
Reuters reported that the launch proceeded from the coastal base without noting any immediate problems. The company has continued to rely on frequent Falcon 9 flights to build out the constellation, underscoring how routine orbital launches have become for SpaceX.
Saturday’s mission came as SpaceX maintained a high launch tempo across its program, with Starlink flights accounting for much of its cadence. The second planned mission later in the day would further add to an already crowded orbiting network.
