SpaceX sent 23 Starlink satellites into orbit early Friday aboard a Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral, according to Reuters. The mission lifted off at 03:42 UTC and marked another routine deployment for the company’s expanding internet constellation.
The rocket’s first-stage booster returned to Earth and landed on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean, continuing SpaceX’s reusable-rocket recovery approach. The landing adds to the company’s record of offshore booster recoveries, which helps reduce launch costs and increase flight cadence.
The latest launch is part of SpaceX’s ongoing effort to build out Starlink coverage with frequent batches of satellites. The system is designed to provide broadband service to customers in areas with limited access to traditional internet infrastructure.
Reuters reported the mission from Cape Canaveral, Florida. SpaceX has made repeated Starlink deployments a central part of its launch schedule as it continues expanding the network worldwide.
