A phone call between Trump and Putin took place before the NATO summit about Ukraine and the Islamic Republic. The Kremlin said that Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump discussed, in a 90-minute call on Saturday, the war in Ukraine, the upcoming NATO summit in Turkey, and issues related to the Islamic Republic. Yuri Ushakov, a foreign policy adviser to Putin, said that in the call Mr. Trump reiterated his readiness to help “end the war quickly” and find a solution to the Ukraine crisis. The call followed the efforts of the Trump administration to mediate between Moscow and Kyiv. Ushakov said that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, the U.S. envoys, are prepared to continue their efforts and, if the timing is appropriate, travel to Moscow again.
