While relations between Tehran and the Kurdistan Region of Iraq in recent months are assessed as being strained under the impact of Iran’s missile and drone attacks, reports have been published about official invitations from officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran to leaders of the Kurdistan Region to attend the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei. According to the reports, “Nechirvan Barzani,” head of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, traveled to Tehran at the invitation of “Masoud Pezeshkian” on Friday, 12 Tir 1405, leading a high-ranking delegation to take part in the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei; a trip that, in addition to attending this ceremony, will be accompanied by political meetings at the highest level and discussions about bilateral relations and regional developments.
