Limited travel restrictions toward the north announced; highway police says there is heavy traffic on Tehran–North

At the same time as the start of a wave of travel by citizens from Tehran to the northern provinces ahead of the announced holidays for the funeral ceremonies of “Ali Khamenei,” the slain leader of the Islamic Republic, the Highway Police of FARAJA reported heavy traffic and travel restrictions on the main routes leading to the northern provinces. The head of FARAJA’s Highway Police announced on Thursday, 11 Tir 1405, that due to a significant increase in the volume of traffic on the Tehran–North Freeway heading from south to north and on the Karaj–Chaloos route, from 9 a.m. vehicle travel from the north to the south has been prohibited until further notice.
