Russia launched a new wave of drones at Kyiv overnight, adding to the pressure on Ukraine’s capital after months of repeated aerial attacks. Ukrainian officials said air defenses intercepted most of the incoming drones, limiting the damage from the assault.
The strike is part of Russia’s ongoing campaign of long-range attacks on Ukrainian cities, which has repeatedly put civilians, homes, and critical infrastructure at risk. Kyiv has remained a frequent target as Russia continues to rely on drones and missiles to strike deep behind the front line.
Authorities did not immediately release a full damage assessment, but the reported interception of most drones suggests the city’s defenses again prevented a wider disaster. Even so, the latest attack underscores the continuing threat faced by residents living under near-constant alert.
The overnight barrage comes as Ukraine continues to call for stronger air defense support from allies to protect civilian areas from Russia’s sustained attacks.
