🔶 Israel: New York Times report about the assassination of Qalibaf and Iraqi is fake The office of the Israeli prime minister rejected a report by the New York Times about American concern regarding the possibility that Israel could assassinate senior Iranian negotiators and called it "fake and completely fabricated news." The New York Times had reported on Thursday, 11 Tir (July 2), citing current and former U.S. officials, that during negotiations earlier this year, Washington had indirectly warned Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, and Mohammad-Baqer Qalibaf, the speaker of Iran’s parliament, that Israel may target them after the April 8 ceasefire. According to the New York Times report, Washington’s concerns were so significant that U.S. officials asked their counterparts in regional countries to warn Tehran about Israel’s alleged plan to assassinate these two politicians. Based on the report, the U.S. had also asked some regional countries to convey this message to Tehran so that the understanding and negotiations between the United States and Iran would not be put at risk.
