AMD has introduced its latest Instinct MI350X accelerator, positioning the chip as a major upgrade for artificial intelligence workloads. The company says the new model delivers up to four times the AI training performance of the MI300X, while also reducing power use by about 30 percent.

The launch comes as chipmakers race to supply the fast-growing market for AI hardware, where data centers are demanding more performance with lower energy costs. AMD is seeking to strengthen its position against rivals that have dominated much of the AI accelerator market so far.

According to the company’s claims, the MI350X is designed to improve efficiency for large-scale training tasks, which are among the most resource-intensive jobs in modern computing. Lower power consumption could also make the chip more attractive to operators facing rising electricity and cooling expenses.

The new accelerator adds to a crowded and competitive semiconductor landscape, where advances in performance, memory capacity, and energy efficiency are increasingly central to winning contracts. AMD’s latest release signals that the company intends to push harder for share in the expanding AI infrastructure market.
