🔺U.S. forces leave Nigeria after the end of the operation against ISIS ▪ The head of the U.S. Army’s Africa Command (AFRICOM) says the United States has withdrawn most of the forces it had deployed to Nigeria for the recent operation against ISIS militants. ▪ General Dagvin Anderson added that the U.S. Army is now continuing to provide only intelligence support, at Nigeria’s request. ▪ U.S. and Nigerian forces killed Abubakar Al-Minnoki—the second-in-command of the ISIS terrorist group worldwide—during a joint operation in the northeast of the country in May. ▪ The operation was carried out after the U.S. strike on Christmas against the group; the strike was carried out on the orders of President Donald Trump.
