Oman’s foreign minister said the country opposes imposing transit fees in the Strait of Hormuz and considers such a move inconsistent with international law. He said Muscat is committed to these laws.
According to him, it is Iran’s responsibility to ensure that shipping lanes in this waterway are free from mine-related dangers.
The Omani official also said he does not rule out charging for services on grounds such as improving navigational safety, emergency preparedness, and combating pollution.
