CNN: Trump administration drafted a nuclear cooperation deal with Saudi Arabia that would allow uranium enrichment

🔹 The agreement would allow Saudi Arabia to enrich uranium for its civilian nuclear program. The full text has been completed, but it has not yet been signed by Trump and has not been submitted to Congress.

🔹 The contentious issue is that the deal does not require Saudi Arabia to accept the strongest safeguards regime of the International Atomic Energy Agency (Additional Protocol) and instead relies on a separate safeguards agreement between the United States and Saudi Arabia. Critics warn that this could make it easier for Saudi Arabia to pursue, in the future, the capability to build nuclear weapons.
