SQLite
A complete database in a single file.
SQLite is a complete SQL database in a single file. There is no server to install: the engine is a small library inside the app, which is why it runs on every Android phone and iPhone, in every major web browser and in countless apps. You already know SQL from the SQL track, so this course is about what makes SQLite different: the sqlite3 shell, flexible types and STRICT tables, safe access from Python, transactions and WAL mode, indexes and query plans, JSON, and foreign keys.
Every query and program in this track was really run, and every result you see is exactly what it printed.

Ready to prove it?
Three exams are waiting: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
What you'll be able to do
- Create and explore database files with the
sqlite3shell - Predict how SQLite stores each value, and use
STRICTtables when types matter - Use SQLite from Python safely, with placeholders and transactions
- Keep an app responsive with WAL mode, indexes and
EXPLAIN QUERY PLAN - Query JSON, and switch on the foreign keys SQLite leaves off by default
- Choose between SQLite and PostgreSQL for a real project
