MongoDB
Documents instead of tables.
MongoDB stores data as documents: JSON-like records that can hold nested objects and arrays, so a whole post with its tags and comments fits in one place. This track starts from zero in mongosh, the MongoDB shell. You will insert, find, update and delete documents, filter them with query operators and speed them up with indexes. Then you will design your own collections, deciding what to embed and what to reference, turn game scores into a leaderboard with the aggregation pipeline, and protect your data with validation.
Every lesson uses the same small dataset from Nova, an imaginary social app, and shows the exact output of every command, so you always know what to expect.

Three exams are waiting: Bronze, Silver and Gold.
What you'll be able to do
- Insert, find, update and delete documents in mongosh
- Filter with query operators, dot notation and arrays
- Sort and page results, and speed up queries with indexes and explain
- Decide what to embed and what to reference
- Build a leaderboard with the aggregation pipeline and $lookup
- Guard a collection with $jsonSchema and know when you need a transaction
