🔶 Trump: Iran has nearly agreed to all of our demands Donald Trump, on Wednesday, July 2 (11 Tir), in an extensive interview with the CNBC news network, claimed that the Islamic Republic “has nearly agreed to everything the United States needs.” Trump also pointed to the Islamic Republic’s agreement to not produce nuclear weapons, which was included in the recent understanding between Tehran and Washington. This, however, refers to Tehran’s agreement on this matter in the JCPOA, which was signed in 2015 during Barack Obama’s presidency. Trump called that agreement the “worst deal in history” and withdrew from it unilaterally. The U.S. president had previously claimed that Iran has agreed to hand over enriched uranium to the United States—an assertion that Tehran rejects and which is one of the complicated issues in the current negotiations between Tehran and Washington. The parties are currently continuing indirect negotiations through the mediation of Qatar and Pakistan. These talks are expected to resume after the funeral ceremony for Ali Khamenei, the former leader of the Islamic Republic.
