🔶 The presence of Pakistan’s prime minister and representatives from China, India, and the Taliban at the funeral ceremony of Ali Khamenei Ismail Baqai, the spokesperson of Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Thursday, 11 Tir, called the funeral procession of Ali Khamenei a “historic and extremely important event,” and said that “foreign guests from around 100 countries” will come to Iran to take part in the ceremony. Baqai had previously said on Tuesday, 9 Tir that “Europeans do not have the honor of participating in Khamenei’s ceremony,” and that no official invitation had been extended to European figures because “they stood on the wrong side of history.” Pakistan’s Foreign Office said on Thursday that Shehbaz Sharif, the country’s prime minister, would travel to Iran to attend the funeral ceremony for Ali Khamenei, the former leader of the Islamic Republic. In recent months, Pakistan—along with Qatar—has taken on mediating between the United States and Iran with the aim of ending the war involving Iran that began in February, after the United States and Israel’s attacks.
