🔶 Another oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was hit by an unknown projectile The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency announced that another oil tanker was targeted by an attack from an unknown projectile as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Tuesday, July 7 (16 Tir). The agency, in a post on the X network, wrote that the attack caused “minor damage to the structure” of the tanker, but that there were no injuries or environmental damage. The incident occurred one day after an attack on two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, one of which carried liquefied natural gas belonging to Qatar and the other a crude oil tanker flying the Saudi flag. On Tuesday, Qatar held Iran responsible for the attack on the Qatari tanker and asked Tehran to “stop all actions that undermine regional security or jeopardize the safety of international shipping.” Majed Al-Ansari, spokesperson of the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a message on the X network, called the targeting of this vessel “an unacceptable attack on the security and safety of international shipping” and added: “We consider Iran fully legally responsible for this attack and for any damage or consequences resulting from it.”
