The U.S. Navy said Houthi forces fired an anti-ship ballistic missile toward a commercial vessel in the Red Sea on Saturday. According to Central Command, the missile was intercepted before it reached the ship, and no damage or injuries were reported.
The incident adds to the continued threat to commercial shipping in one of the world’s most important trade routes. Since late 2023, repeated attacks and attempted strikes in the Red Sea have raised security concerns for crews, insurers, and global supply chains.
Central Command did not say the vessel was directly hit, and no immediate claim of damage followed. The report comes amid ongoing regional tensions that have kept maritime traffic under heightened alert.
The Red Sea corridor remains volatile as armed groups continue to target shipping connected to the broader conflict. For civilian mariners and commercial operators, the risk of escalation remains a central concern.
