Ukrainian officials said Russia launched a large overnight drone attack on Kyiv, sending more than 100 drones toward the capital as diplomacy remained stalled. Air defenses intercepted most of the drones, but some managed to get through and strike residential areas.
Authorities reported damage to homes and other civilian property, along with injuries to civilians. Emergency crews responded across affected districts as residents woke to explosions and falling debris. Officials did not immediately provide a full damage assessment.
The attack came as efforts to revive peace talks showed little progress. For Kyiv residents, the strike underscored the continuing threat from Russia’s drone campaign and the vulnerability of civilian neighborhoods far from the front line.
Reuters reported the incident based on statements from Ukrainian officials. Independent verification of the full extent of the damage and casualties was not immediately available.
