Apple Rolls Out iOS 18.1 Beta With New Apple Intelligence Features

Apple has begun rolling out the public beta of iOS 18.1, introducing the first wave of Apple Intelligence features to supported iPhones. The update brings new tools designed to help users write, create, and interact with their devices more naturally, while keeping privacy at the center of the experience.

Among the headline additions are Writing Tools, which can help refine text across apps, and Image Playground, a new feature that lets users generate playful images from prompts. Apple is also enhancing Siri with more capable, AI-powered interactions that run primarily on-device, allowing for faster responses and reduced reliance on cloud processing.

To support more advanced requests, Apple is using Private Cloud Compute, a system intended to extend AI capabilities while maintaining strong privacy protections. The company says this approach is designed to ensure user data remains secure even when tasks require additional processing power.

The beta is currently available only on iPhone 15 Pro and later models, reflecting the hardware requirements needed to run Apple Intelligence features.
