🔶 Friedrich Naumann Foundation awards Freedom Prize to the people of Iran The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF) announced that it will award its Freedom Prize this year to the people of Iran. The foundation, close to the Free Democratic Party of Germany, grants the prize every two years at St. Paul’s Church in Frankfurt. Stephan Seibisch, chairman of the foundation’s board of directors, told the German magazine Der Spiegel that the foundation has deliberately decided to award the Freedom Prize not to an individual, but to the people of Iran. He said the goal is to honor the freedom-minded will of hundreds of thousands of Iranians who have put their lives at risk to overthrow what he called the “criminal mullah regime.” The ceremony to present this year’s prize is scheduled for November 7. Seibisch also said that Bijan Jirserai, a German-Iranian politician and former secretary-general of the Free Democratic Party of Germany, will deliver the keynote speech at the ceremony about the courageous resolve of the people of Iran for freedom. The head of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation said it has not yet been determined who will receive the prize on behalf of the people of Iran.
