📷 General Francis D. Danevan, commander of the U.S. Southern Command “SOUTHCOM,” said the U.S. Army has deployed more than 900 military personnel in Venezuela to support relief operations following the devastating earthquakes, along with about 800 additional personnel at support bases in Puerto Rico and Curaçao. Speaking to Reuters on Tuesday, Tir 9, General Danevan said U.S. forces have taken part in search and rescue operations, reopening the airport, and transporting equipment and humanitarian aid by air and sea. Earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela last week, destroying many buildings and trapping thousands of people under rubble. According to Venezuelan officials, by the sixth day of the relief operation, only a three-year-old child had been rescued alive from under the rubble.
