Speaking to Reuters on Tuesday, Tir 9, General Danevan said U.S. forces have taken part in search and rescue operations, reopening the airport, and transporting equipment and humanitarian aid by air and sea. Earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 magnitude struck Venezuela last week, destroying many buildings and trapping thousands of people under rubble. According to Venezuelan officials, by the sixth day of the relief operation, only a three-year-old child had been rescued alive from under the rubble.
