The Pentagon said on Sunday it will send Ukraine a new $225 million security assistance package as Russian forces continue pushing their summer offensive in the country’s east. The latest support is intended to strengthen Kyiv’s defenses at a time of sustained pressure on the front line.

According to the announcement, the package includes additional air defense systems and artillery munitions. Those supplies are aimed at helping Ukraine intercept incoming attacks and sustain firepower as Russian strikes and ground assaults continue.

The new package comes amid renewed concern over the toll of the war on Ukrainian civilians, who remain exposed to air raids, shelling, and displacement as fighting grinds on. Washington has continued to frame military aid as part of its broader effort to help Ukraine resist Russia’s invasion.

The announcement adds to a long-running stream of U.S. support for Ukraine, with officials emphasizing battlefield needs tied to air defense and ammunition. It also underscores how the war remains centered on military attrition and civilian risk more than three years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion.
