Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s trust rating falls to a new record low of just 13% in the latest Deutschlandtrend poll for ARD and WELT, down three points from last month. 84% of Germans say they are dissatisfied with his performance. His CDU/CSU party drops to 22% — the lowest figure since November 2021 — while the coalition partner SPD falls to 12%. The AfD leads as the strongest party with 27%, unchanged from last month. The Greens rise by one point to 15%, and the Left rises by one point to 11%. The economy dominates public concerns: 78% say they are worried about Germany being a location for industry. Climate change ranks second with 66%, followed by immigration with just over 50%. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) is the only politician with a trust majority, at 52%.
